India Industrial Land Bank

India industrial land bank – Egniol

To take a serious approach to resource optimization, upgrading, and sustainability, the Department for promotion of Industry & Internal Trade created the India Industrial Land Bank (IIS) portal, a GIS-enabled database of  areas/clusters across the country. The site provides a centralised location for all relevant industrial data, such as raw material availability (agricultural, horticultural, mineral, and natural resource data); distance from major logistic nodes; terrain and urban infrastructure layers; and more.

More than 3,350 parks and park clusters, totaling over 475,000 hectares, are represented in the database at present, spread among 31 States and UTs. Invest India, the country’s agency for promoting and facilitating investment, as well as the National Center of Geo-Informatics (NCoG), the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and the Bhaskaracharya Institute for Space Applications and Geo-Informatics, are all on board with the project (BISAG).

In three phases, IILB has been integrated with the GIS systems of 15 states for plot level data, and the fourth phase is currently under progress. On April 1st, 2021, the Hon’ble Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal evaluated the IILB’s work through video conference with state officials and asked them to maintain their support to ensure the integration process was completed on schedule.

As a GIS database of industrial areas/clusters, the India Industrial Land Bank (IILB) was created by the Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade (DPIIT).

It paves the way for serious implementation of sustainability, advancement, and resource conservation. To learn more about the India Industrial Land Bank, continue reading this article.

In what ways is it important to have the Indian Industrial Land Bank?

In what ways is it important to have the Indian Industrial Land Bank

Creating a business park or industrial complex in India is difficult because there is no central database with information on available land and other factors.

The IILB may make this information readily available so that interested parties can make educated choices about where and how to establish their industrial bases. The GIS-based system will also allow for a cost-analysis to be performed on what the profit and loss scenario will be for a potential entrepreneur when they open up shop.

What is a Geographic Information System?

What is a Geographic Information System

A GIS is a system that facilitates the precise collection of spatial and geographical information. In practise, GIS is implemented using computer-based tools that let users build interactive queries, save and change data, perform analysis on output, and visually present the results via maps.

GIS is used in a wide variety of other fields as well, including science, engineering, and technology. They’re connected to a wide range of tasks and uses, including but not limited to:

  • Engineering
  • Planning
  • Management
  • Transport/logistics
  • Insurance
  • Telecommunications
  • Business

This is why location-enabled services that rely on spatial analysis and visualisation rely heavily on geographic information systems (GIS) and location intelligence applications.

The quality of a GIS is determined by the reliability of its underlying data and the format in which it is stored. Using the GPS-derived placements, land surveyors have provided a high degree of positional precision.

There are various source data that affect total GIS accuracy, such as paper maps, however these may be of limited value to achieve the needed precision, such as high-resolution digital topography and aerial images, powerful computers, and Web technology.

A survey by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Market and Ernst & Young found that foreign real estate and investment firms plan to concentrate most of their attention on the Indian market. Not only do local and foreign property developers flock to the bright outlook, but so do corporate giants, private equity firms, and financial institutions seeking to amass substantial capital through long-term investments.

Egniol offers a wide variety of consulting services with added value. High-net-worth investors can benefit from these services because they are designed with their unique needs in mind. If you are looking to buy or sell high-quality investment property in India, Egniol can help you do so with peace of mind and a focus on maximising your earnings (ROI).
