Seed fund scheme provides monetary support to startups on their terms and conditions.

Shri Piyush Goyal honorable cabinet minister for the railway, commerce and industry, consumer affairs, food, and public distribution launched the startup India seed fund scheme on 19th April 2021.


Much innovative and business suffers in shortage or absence of funds. SISFS will provide funds to original and unique business ideas. The government of India started this initiative to boost small startup enterprises. PM of India announced the SISFS in his grand plenary speech of Prarambh. After approval of the finance minister, the scheme was announced on

12 January 2021.

The seed fund will be allotted to eligible startups through the eligible incubator across India.


A startup, recognized by DPIIT, incorporate not more than 2 years ago at the time of application is eligible to take the benefits of this scheme.
The startup must have a strong and unique business idea and scope of trading.
The startup should be using technology in its core creation or service, or business, distribution models, or methodology to solve the problem being targeted.
preference would be given to startups developing innovative solutions in various sectors.
startup should not have received more than RS. 10 lakh of financial assistance under any State or Central Government. this does not include prize money or grand challenge, subsidized working space, monthly allowance, or access to prototyping facilities.
shareholding by Indian promoters should be at least 51% at the moment of application to the incubators.
Applicant can use seed support in the form of grant and debt/convertible debentures each once as per the protocols of the scheme.
